Arun Menon
Arun Menon was born in London, where he began to play the violin at age of 6. He entered the Royal College of Music as a junior student in 1997. He studied for his bachelors and masters degrees with Simon Rowland-Jones and Andriy Viytovych. He will study this year with Bruno Giuranna in Italy and Ireland. In 2004, he was co-principal viola of the Southbank Sinfonia. He has also performed chamber music across the UK and USA with the Prince Consort chamber ensemble, and in festivals in Finland, Scotland and Spain. He is the violist in the Brodowski String Quartet. As an orchestral musician he has worked with the CBSO, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and English Sinfonia.
He has performed concertos with the Ealing Symphony Orchestra and Southbank Sinfonia. Future concerto performances are planned with the Harlow Symphony Orchestra, and other orchestras in London. Arun frequently gives recitals with his duo partner, Daniel Smith. Together they won second prize in the Royal Overseas League Viola Competition in 2005.
